I would like to send my thanks for everything you have done for this country and the people of this country and sorry that many do not appreciate what a good job you have done through such difficult times. You are a true statesman, not a fake one such as David Cameron and I'm sorry that the people of this country have been fooled by the media into believing who should lead us forward. Life has never been better under your leadership and I'm only sorry that more haven't seen the bigger picture. good luck to you and your family. rachel

Many, many thanks from Vale of Clwyd CLP & Unison Denbighshire County Branch. You have kept your honour at all times, despite atrocious provocation. We do not elect our PM here, unlike US presidents. WE in the Labour Party chose you. Thanks for doing such a great job & don't be bounced into resigning unless you REALLY want to. We love you Gordie xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you Gordon for all you have done for the country. I am also furious at the terrible way that you have been treated by the media over the time that you have been in charge. I would stress that the media does not speak for all of us. Thank you for making life better for so many and best wishes to you, Sarah and your family xxxxxx

Thank you Gordon for rescuing the NHS, the national cancer plan has transformed cancer services in this country and people who can't afford to go private ie most of the country no longer have to die of cancer while waiting for treatment like they did under the tories. Its a crying shame that you couldn't get that message across, if only our media were remotely impartial and sensible, and were prepared to print a positive story instead of scaremongering, the public would know the truth.

Dear Gordon, Thank you for your invaluable work as Prime Ministers these past five years. Thank you, especially, for rescuing the world from economic meltdown with your ideas, determination and ability to get world leaders to follow your lead. I wish the British public were less shallow than they are. It has been a pleasure to campaign for the Labour Party and for you - shame we didn't manage to get you more votes! Thank you, Deborah

Thank you Gordon,
Thank you for making life easier for my grandparents, for the job my mother has in education supporting those with learning difficulties,
thank you for our health care system that saved me from meningitis two years ago, and for the Employment Support Allowance i received when I could no longer work or attend university as a result of my illness
Thank you for your integrity and sincerity and for brilliantly implementing everything Labour stands for.

Thank you for your inspirational leadership. Your hard work and integrity shone through despite the combined efforts of the biased media. I wish you well for the future but am very saddened that you felt you had to stand down for the good of the country.

Dear Mr Brown, I have never voted Labour but I still think some of your policies have been fantastic steps forward for this country. Your work as chancellor in particular meant that child poverty and unemployment were at all time lows, this is to be commended whatever a persons political stance. I for one think you are one of the most intelligent and shrewd economists we have seen in the political arena, unfortunately many people are only concerned with political persona in these times. Humility is rare thing in politics and today yours shone through. As with so many people who make history, their impact is not truly recognised until many years after their time, you are one of those men Mr Brown and in time many more will thank you for it. Thank you.

When the shameful and dishonest blathering of the media has finally died away, as it will, history will record you as the finest Chancellor to serve this country and as the Prime Minister, whose steady hand pulled us safely through an economic crisis that so nearly was a social disaster of unimaginable proportions.
For that and for your integrity both as politician and as a person, I am as deeply grateful as I am saddened that the country is now losing your leadership.
